Hainan Island is one of Chinese seven major tourist areas--its rich and colourful tourist resources including tropical scenery, places of historic interest and scenic beauty, and minority nationality customs. Having a tropical monsoonal climate, the island's climate is unique among tropical areas of the world. It is not too hot in summer and not too cold in winter, beaches, greenery and fresh air. Hainan Island has therefore become a place of interest for winter swimming and vacations.
There are many scenic spots, ancient buildings, ancient cultural remains and revolutionary places on Hainan Island. A great number of minority nationalities still keep their simple customs, which make the island's social style unique and colourful. It is estimated that there are as many as 123 tourist spots which can be developed, but only 27 of which have been tapped and are being tapped. Therefore, it can be seen that the island has great potential to develop a bright future in tourism.
Located in the southwest seaside of Sanya city with a land area of 10,4 square kilometres and a sea area of 6 square kilometres, Tian-Ya-Hai-Jiao means the end of the world and corner of sea. The blue sea and azure sky. the misty waves and dots of sails. The coconut trees dancing in the breeze and grotesque stones standing around have here formed a nice poetic picture.
Those huge stones engraved with Chinese Characters of "TIAN YA" , "HAI JIAO", "NAN TIAN YI ZHU" and "HAI PAN NAN TIAN" stand by the South China Sea quietly, becoming a unique scene in Hainan Island.
In the tourist area, there are sea water swimming beach, fishing station, sea-viewing boats and other facilities enjoying the beautiful natural sceneries and sea swimming. If you like, you can climb up the Fire-lit Platform, the Sea-viewing Pavilion and the Yearning for Su Hall along the winding paths on the mountains.
The Tianya Shopping Centre, which consist of both modern and ancient traditional garden styles, stands up in the tourist area, will be concentrated with rich Hainan traditional tourist arts and crafts, different local food delicacies and it is really a sightseeing, shopping and tasting place for all the tourist.
The Tianya Roaming Area is under construction now. When it's finish. It will be one of the best places for tourists to take a rest or wander about on the paths or in the green trees, looking for dreams and their bright future.
