  • NSF funds five SCC’s, 56 Kbps interconnect

• 1988

  • NSFNet multi sites and regional networks, 1.544 Mbps

• 1991

  • NSFNet upgraded to 45 Mbps

• January 1994

  • vBNS component of NSF 93-52 awarded to MCI, starting with 155 Mbps

• February 1997

  • vBNS backbone upgraded to OC12c/622 Mbps
